Submission Guidelines
Prose
Prose submissions include short stories, creative nonfiction, short plays, and interviews. Submissions should not exceed 5,000 words. Submit no more than three works of prose.
Poetry
Submit up to four poems. Include English translations for all non-English language poems.
Visual Art
Visual art submissions include photography, paintings, drawings, prints, cartoons, and graphic literature. Submit up to four pieces of visual art. Include the piece's physical size, medium, and date of creation.
The Oval accepts submissions electronically year round with a reading period starting in September and ending in March. Only previously unpublished work by currently enrolled undergraduates is accepted. Send written work as Word documents or Rick Text and visual art in JPEG format. Include your full name, home address, phone number, and your university's name and address.
